Family Quilt History

It was brought up at one of the last meetings that we should get photos of all the quilts and as much info as we can so we can document it on the website. I have a few photos, but if anyone has any photos of family quilts from previous reunions, please post them here or email them to me at jonathon.prevost@gmail.com Thanks!

June 15th, 2016 Update

Good Morning All,

Thank you to those who came out to the meeting on Sunday! I think we got alot of things figured out.

A few notes:

We will not be doing the pulled pork dinner as there was not enough interest and the cost would have been to high. We will stick to the potluck meal on Sunday night.
PLEASE make sure you bring enough food to share so that everyone gets to eat this year. If there are 4 people come to eat, please bring enough food for the 4 of you to eat. If there’s 10, then bring enough for 10. One bowl of salad is not enough to share if you are 10, so please make sure we watch our portions this year. We want everyone to enjoy this time together.
If you aren’t much of a cook or are coming in from out of town, there are still options for you to bring something…bag of buns, big jar of pickles, watermelon, the little things we enjoy having in a meal that don’t have to be cooked.

Silent auction is still collecting donations. Please let Megan Pilcher know if you will be bringing something so they can have a bit of an idea in advance.

Kids games are being planned. We are in need of some prizes for these games if anyone is looking for something to donate. Small outdoor prizes would be appreciated…little water pistols, bubbles, kite, etc. Please get in touch with Kristin Prasek if you would like to donate.

Quilts are done, Survivor games planned, toilets booked, we will have pins at registration for those who would like to be identified for first aid.
There will be signs up on site to let you know where things are located near by and emergency numbers. We will not be having a coffee station, water bottles or ice on site so please come prepared. We will also be fogging for mosquitoes.

There will be B&B Reunion mugs on site for sale if you are interested (waiting to hear price).
Also there has been some interest in cook books again…Is that something that we should get more printed?? There were only 2 left and they are spoken for already. Please let me know if you have interest in a book so we can collect in advance for that and get them done to hand out at the reunion.

Your reps will be getting in touch with you to get a rough head count on who’s coming. Also reps, if you haven’t yet, please email me your family book updates bb.reunion16@gmail.com
Could you also pass along to those that are not on facebook that we have a site where all the update will also be posted(Thank you Jonathon Prevost & Mel Parent): bbreunion.ca

I think I have covered everything… if I have forgotten something or get any updated info, I will be sure to pass it along!

Thank you!

April 1st, 2016 Update

Hello,
So I have been slowly getting back in contact with people to see where we stand with everything. I know some families have been having meetings to go over the information and get feedback on things that were brought up at last meeting.
I just wanted to share some of the feedback I have been getting….

Hi Brenda,

After a little back and forth over how we ever got stuck with ‘calf-shit-yellow’ as a family colour we were able to agree on a few things.

No one wants to pay for supper. And apparently we don’t care if the last people in line don’t get a hot meal. We are without remorse when it comes to food apparently. Or we just love to try each others’ recipes and are never late to the dinner table…. Uncle Dom does bring that big BBQ to all kinds of things and will probably bring it just to show it off filled with 100 chicken legs….12 to 4 in favor for the potluck.

As a family we decided to go with the ‘make-your-own-name-tag’ where all the family colours are there and you write your name on your colour. This way we don’t accidentally spell anyone’s name wrong and we don’t have to organize and search for 300 names. The name tag covers (badge) will be pin on unless I find something more clever. What we will need to have is some kind of head count so that we have enough of each colour pre cut to the size of the badge. I am not sure how close we can get but we could try to put our heads together next meeting.

My immediate family shoot off $700.00 of fireworks annually. I am confident that a 15 to 30 minute fireworks show should be done by a team of 3 to 6 people who do know what they are doing. If we determine that we have this team without my help, no problem. Our large family has honest experts at basically everything. We can all agree not drunk people in charge of the fireworks. It was also brought up that in the case of possible bad weather we may want to look at doing them on Saturday with a weather reschedule planned for Sunday.

I was surprised how many people got excited when we talked about the song books and the camp fire sing-a-long. It would seem the only other thing my family loves as much as eating good food is singing drunk. Aunty Joanne wanted us to ask for more people to bring their guitars to play at the fire.

Uncle Dom said he would bring his karaoke machine if there was interest. This also promotes loud drunk singing…and lots of fun.

As for the bouncy castle, we were split on supervision. No one was against the idea. We went around the room and people said if they would watch if ‘our kids’ were playing in it. Half of us said the kids could play at their own risk and there were some who will watch any of our kids like super heroes out fear that someone is eventually going to loose and eye.

Do you know who is going to be updating the pages of the family book? That is a monster of a task to take on. I didn’t get to updating the pages we did yesterday. I will work on them this week. My Mom did most of the updating so I will give them all another look over to see if we missed something.

And I haven’t forgot about Uncle Joe and Aunty Dedette. Their grand daughter Celine Jeanson is getting married in Manitoba in May. I heard a rumor that none of the family is coming from BC for the event. So I think it would be in poor taste to ask about the reunion ahead of the wedding. I am going to her wedding as is most of my family. I will leave Claudette a list of all the things we have been talking about after the wedding some time. I am sure that she is coming and maybe her boys, but I am not going to ask before the wedding. I already sent Claudette and Celine a ‘save-the-date’ thing back in July and spoke to them both so they do know.

Cheers,

July 5th, 2015 Update

Hello all,

We had a great first meeting and I think we got alot covered and discussed.
Thank you to all the reps that volunteered and came to the meeting. If there is anyone else who is interested in volunteering please don’t hesitate to contact me and we can get you up to date!

I’m hoping your reps have started collecting the family book updates and have also thrown some of these ideas out there.

As Lauren mentioned there was discussion about having bouncy houses for the little ones to play in. These would hopefully be available all weekend for the little ones. I’m waiting on finding out if we can get one donated or if there would be a cost. Would be nice to know what the parents think of this idea.

Also, there was lots of mention on the suggestion pages of having a pig roast this year instead of doing the pot luck. I’m waiting on a final quote for that. We will be selling tickets ahead of time to make sure that the cost is covered. They will supply everything needed (pulled pork, buns, salads…) I have also inquired about gluten free options.
Please let me know if this is of interest.

We would like that everyone brings their own travel mug this year to try and cut back on garbage.

We will not be getting portable showers for on site. There will be an information sheet put up to let us all know what’s available around the park (pool, shower, ice, beer, emergency ‪#‎s‬, etc.)

For those that don’t know, there is a play structure in the park now aswell. We will have kids games and a slip and slide aswell.

We will be doing the memorabilia boards again this year so please get in touch with your reps to pass along pictures.

There was also suggestions on having water bottles available on site (cost to be determined). Have a bucket with honor system, you take a bottle you put your change in the bucket. Possibly also have freezies for the kids available. Thoughts on this?

Jonathon Prevost and Mel Parent are working on getting a website up and running again so that updates can also be posted on there for those that don’t do Facebook. Once that’s available we will let you know!

I will get an agenda out closer to the reunion once I have everything finalised

I think this is a good start..
Once I get more info, I will pass it along.
Feel free to contact your reps for more info or questions, or you can message me or email me bb.reunion16@gmail.com

Thanks!
